Come rain or shine, Hestercombe is the perfect place to walk your dogs. We love seeing our regulars popping in each day for walkies, as well as meeting new faces throughout the year.

Runcorn, Cheshire 01928 569895 Dogs, on leads, are very welcome. We provide water bowls for dogs at both the museum and outside the walled garden cottage.

Although dogs are not allowed inside the walled garden there are extensive paths in the woodland and orchard surrounding the garden which are regularly used by dog walkers.

We ask all dog owners to please pick up after their dogs and provide a bin for this in the walled garden car park.

Our holiday let is approved by our pooch :) We're down a private road, surrounded by fields, with private parking and riverside mooring, adjacent to nature reserve. Our large garden overlooks the 16th-C fort Camber Castle; you can walk to it across fields straight from our driveway.

Rye Harbour Nature Reserve is 5 minutes away; Winchelsea and Camber Sands beaches within 10 minutes; the centre of Rye town 2 minutes.

Dogs are welcome in Silk Wood: a fantastic area to explore with your dog, on the Downs and in the main visitor area. The Old Arboretum is a dog free zone.

Dogs should be kept on a lead around the car parks, and also to be kept outside of the Westonbirt Restaurant, the Great Oak Hall, the shop and plant centre and the toilets.

Please make use of the dog litter bins. Bowls of water are usually available next to the Visitor Services office in the main visitor centre area to keep your dog hydrated.

Dunstable Downs - National Trust  Soar above a breathtaking landscape, sculpted over time, decorated by nature and enjoyed by generations. Stand on top of Dunstable Downs for a view that will simply take your breath away. These Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) are designated for the quality of their chalk grasslands. As well as two Scheduled Ancient Monuments (Five Knolls and Medieval Rabbit Warrens) there are many other historical features and the site has much to offer you. The chalk grasslands of the Downs have miles of footpaths and several circular walks, a fascinating history and an abundance of plants and wildlife. The Sheffield Round Walk  The Sheffield Round Walk is a fourteen mile walk through the parks, woodland and countryside of south west Sheffield. It starts in Endcliffe Park at Hunters Bar goes through Whiteley Woods up into Mayfield and Porter Valley, emerging at Ringinglow before descending again into Whirlow and Ecclesall Woods. There is an ascent into Ladies Spring Wood, through Beauchief and Chancet Wood then into Graves Park and down through Gleadless Valley, returning to Hunters Bar via Meersbrook Park and Brincliffe Edge Woods.

Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre  All dogs are welcome to visit the Onny Meadows with their owners as long as you clean up after them - dog bins and gloves are provided on site. The cafe team will happily provide them with a bowl of water to drink outside if they're a bit hot after exploring the meadows with you!
